It was to be a fire cracker of a night for Northwood Under 18s as they dismissed Alton Town from the Allied Counties League Cup at Chestnut Avenue this evening.

A well-worked corner resulted in Tyrone Durrant's stooping header sailing into the top corner of the Alton net to open the scoring after just ten minutes.

As the Woods continued with the one way traffic, chances came thick and fast for the strikers and with more clinical finishing Woods should have had the game dead and buried. It took until 33 minutes before the Woods increased their lead from Jake O'Meara with a good take to finish neatly into the bottom corner of the net.

Will Hudson then got into the scoring act with a neat header at the far post to make it 3-0 before going into the half time break.

Northwood started the second half as they ended the first increasing their lead with a good run and finish from substitute Chris Michael who beat the keeper at the near post.

Minutes later it was five as O'Meara got his second of the night from a acute angle only for Woods then to concede, a mix up between Rob Peace & Chris Michael who dwelt on the ball to let in the Alton forward who made no mistake.

O'Meara completed his hat-trick when he latched onto a shot spilled by the Alton goalkeeper to make it six, yet the Woods conceded again when a needless free-kick, given away by Michael, took a deflection off the wall and into the net with Pearce given no chance.

The goal of the night was worth the entrance fee and it came from Will Hudson who hit a tremendous strike from 20 yards into the roof of the net to make it seven from Woods to cap an excellent all round performance.
